🔧 How a Thermostat Works (Simple Explanation)

Inside the thermostat is a temperature-sensitive wax element.

Here’s what happens:
1. ❄️ Engine is Cold (Startup)

• The thermostat stays closed
• Coolant does not flow to the radiator
• Coolant circulates only inside the engine

👉 This helps the engine warm up quickly (better fuel efficiency + less wear)

2. 🌡️ Engine Reaches Operating Temperature

At around 85–95°C, the wax inside the thermostat heats up and expands:

• The thermostat opens
• Coolant now flows to the radiator
• Heat is released from the engine

3. 🔄 Continuous Regulation

• The thermostat constantly adjusts:
• Opens more if engine gets hotter
• Closes slightly if engine cools down

👉 This keeps your engine at a stable temperature

🧠 Why This Matters

Without a working thermostat:

❌ Engine can overheat (if stuck closed)
❌ Engine can run too cold (if stuck open)

Both situations can lead to:
